In a vibrant celebration of World Bicycle Day, the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in New Delhi, in collaboration with the Delhi Cyclists Club, hosted a spirited Bicycle Rally through the heart of the Indian capital. The event aimed to promote the values of sustainable mobility, community, and international friendship.
Before the cyclists hit the road, chargé d’affaires Piotr Świtalski addressed the gathering, highlighting the significance of the day. He recalled that World Bicycle Day was established by a United Nations General Assembly resolution, initiated by Polish professor Leszek Sibilski. “This day is a symbol of our shared commitment to healthier, greener lifestyles,” Świtalski noted.
More than 70 cycling enthusiasts joined the event, creating a vibrant mosaic of international participation. Among the riders were ambassadors from Georgia and Lithuania, as well as diplomats representing the United States, Norway, Germany, Finland, Japan, Sri Lanka, Maldives, and Bhutan. Members of the Delhi Cycling Club and the local Polish community also took part, alongside 16 representatives from the Polish Embassy.
The rally route offered a scenic tour of the capital’s iconic locations. Starting from the serene avenues of Chanakyapuri—home to the Polish Embassy—the cyclists passed by the majestic India Gate and concluded their ride at the residence of the Ambassador of Poland on Tilak Marg.
After the invigorating ride, participants were treated to a selection of traditional Polish breakfast delicacies, paired with hot coffee—a perfect way to recharge after the morning’s activity.
The Embassy expressed heartfelt thanks to all participants for their energy and enthusiasm, and extended an open invitation to future editions of the rally.
As the wheels spun through Delhi’s streets, the rally was not just a celebration of bicycles—it was a celebration of solidarity, sustainability, and shared global values.
