Human remains in a suitcase – Poland Gripped by Tragedy After Two Brutal Crimes in a Single Day

A wave of shock and grief has swept across Poland following two separate, horrifying crimes that occurred on Tuesday, 7 May. The nation is reeling from the violent events, which unfolded first in the capital and later in a coastal town, raising concerns over public safety and sparking widespread media attention.

The first incident took place at the University of Warsaw, where a 22-year-old student launched a deadly attack on campus. According to authorities, the assailant fatally struck an administrative employee with an axe and seriously injured a security guard who attempted to intervene. The motive behind the attack remains under investigation, and the suspect has been detained by police.

Later that same day, another gruesome discovery was made in Ustka, a seaside city on the Baltic coast. Emergency services responded after a bystander reported a suspicious object floating in the water. Upon retrieving the object—a suitcase—responders uncovered a chilling scene: human remains inside.

Preliminary findings suggest the victim was a man whose body had been partially dismembered. Police quickly secured the area and launched an intensive investigation, working under the supervision of the District Prosecutor’s Office in Słupsk.

While the identity of the victim has yet to be confirmed, officials have not ruled out any possibilities. Investigators are exploring multiple scenarios, including the likelihood that the man was murdered elsewhere and his remains transported by the river to Ustka. A full autopsy is expected to provide critical insights into the time and cause of death.

“The work of the officers is ongoing and intensive,” said Asp. Jakub Bagiński from the Municipal Police Headquarters in Słupsk. “We are doing everything we can to establish the victim’s identity and reconstruct the events leading to this discovery.”

Police are urging anyone with information—no matter how minor—to come forward. “Every detail may be the key to solving this case,” Bagiński emphasized.

As investigators continue their work, the Polish public is left grappling with the disturbing nature of these back-to-back tragedies. More details are expected to emerge in the coming days as both cases unfold.
