Global Indian Pravasi Kabaddi League to Redefine International Kabaddi

National players gear up as the world of kabaddi expands to new global horizons.

The countdown has begun for the highly anticipated inaugural season of the Global Indian Pravasi Kabaddi League (GI-PKL), a groundbreaking event that promises to showcase the vibrant spirit of kabaddi on an international stage. Players from across the globe, including Poland, Egypt, Kenya, Argentina, and Taiwan, are set to participate, making this a truly global celebration of the sport.

Rigorous Preparations Underway

Indian national-level players have already embarked on rigorous training regimens in anticipation of the league. With the players’ draft approaching, both men’s and women’s athletes are intensifying their preparations to secure their spots on one of the 12 competing teams.

Poland’s Rising Presence in Kabaddi

Among the international participants, Poland’s national kabaddi team is poised to make a strong impression. The team has achieved significant milestones, including their 2019 victory at the European Championships in Glasgow, where they triumphed over Holland with a commanding 48-27 win under the leadership of captain Michal Spiczko.

The Kabaddi Federation in Poland continues to promote the sport through innovative initiatives. Recently, they premiered a documentary titled ‘Lion in the Fire,’ chronicling the struggles and triumphs of the Polish National Team during the International Championships in Bangladesh.

Women’s Empowerment Through Kabaddi

Adding a unique dimension to the global kabaddi movement, the India Poland Women Federation, led by Dr. Shelly Sharma, has joined forces with the Kabaddi Federation in Poland. Together, they are actively recruiting Indian women to train and participate in local kabaddi matches in Poland. This initiative not only boosts the representation of women in the sport but also fosters international collaboration and cultural exchange.
