WhatsApp laid out fresh terms and conditions recently, asking users to agree to let owner Facebook Inc. and its subsidiaries collect user data including their phone number and location. As people are not happy with this new policy of Whatsap, more than 100,000 users installed Signal across the app stores of Apple and Google in the last two days while Telegram picked up nearly 2.2 million downloads, according to data analytics firm Sensor Tower.

Encrypted messaging app Signal said it saw a giant spike in India after WhatsApp announced it would be sharing more user data with parent Facebook under an updated privacy policy and new terms of service. The move has sparked concern among WhatsApp users. One of them was Tesla chief executive and world’s richest man Elon Musk, who asked them to join Signal.
