To commemorate the 78th anniversary of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising, today 19 April 2021, at 12noon in Warsaw, rung sirens.
On 19 April 1943 on the eve of Passover, started the largest Jewish revolt, the Warsaw uprising.
The uprising started following the opposition by the Jewish resistance to surrender the SS- Brigadeführer Jürgen Stroop to be deported to Majdanek and Treblinka Camps. Following the uprising, the SS- Brigadeführer Jürgen Stroop burned the ghetto, block by block, until May 16th.
13000 people died during these 4 weeks, 6,000 among them were burnt alive or died from smoke inhalation, 58000 people were deported to Majdanek and Treblinka Camps and the major part of them died.
