The number of new confirmed coronavirus cases in Poland exceeded 1000 reaching up to 1234 cases for the first time since late May and recorded 22 deaths on Wednesday, data released by the Health Ministry.

“We said that by the end of September we would reach this average level of about 1,000 infections (daily), so for the time being this fourth wave is developing in line with our predictions,” Minister Adam Niedzielski said.

The healthcare system is now handling 1,566 Covid-19 hospitalizations, up from 1,529 recorded the day prior, including 174 patients on ventilators, against the total of 647 ventilators available, the Health Ministry said on Twitter.
