From 20 December 2021, the Polish government introduces a reduction in prices on gasoline and diesel fuel for five months. The amount of excise duty will be reduced to the minimum level allowed in the EU – the Prime Minister of Poland informed.
The government will also introduce a VAT reduction to 8%. on gas. “The Polish government acts with Polish citizens in mind and in order to buffer the rise in inflation, today we present the first series of measures aimed at amortizing inflation rates”, Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki announced.
He also explained that inflation because of the pandemic is intensified by actions beyond the control of the government. In addition, from January 1 to May 31, 2022, fuels will be exempt from the retail sales tax.
- The government has announced a reduction in VAT on natural gas. There will be a reduction of VAT on gas to the level of 8%. (From the current 23%) for three months – from January to March 2022.
- The VAT on electricity will be lowered. – Let’s lower rates for energy consumers by using tax tools. There will be a reduction of VAT on electricity to the level of 5%. (from the current 23 percent). The reduction is expected to apply for three months from January to March 2022.
- There will also be 0 percent. Excise tax on electricity for households.
