Last year on January, the National Procurement Authority (NPA) of Afghanistan has announced that the printing of Afghani notes was awarded to the Polish Security Printing Works (PWPW). The total face value of 10 billion Afghanis will be printed. The denominations to be printed are the 10; 20; 50 and 100 Afghanis. The contract is worth USD 8.5 million and it was to be fulfilled in 6 to 18 months.
The first set of notes is already printed and sent to Kabul. Embassy of the Republic of Poland in New Delhi posted in their fb page: “They are produced in modern technology, with anti-soiling coating Fortis Pro and are protected with Coat4Note varnish based on PWPW unique production method, characterised by higher protection against chemical solvents and soiling than its classic counterpart. The substrate covered with this varnish is also characterised by a higher grammage, which also positively impacts the physical properties of print.”
