Pierre Cardin was an Italian-born French fashion designer. He is known for what were his avant-garde style and Space Age designs. He preferred geometric shapes and motifs, often ignoring the female form. He advanced into unisex fashions, sometimes experimental, and not always practical. Cardin was credited with helping revolutionize fashion with his futuristic and stylish designs in the 1950s and 60s. He was also a pioneer in business, licensing his name to be used on a range of products such as sunglasses, perfumes, foods, industrial design, real estate, entertainment and even fresh flowers.
He died in hospital in Neuilly, near Paris
