Restaurants, bars and cafes have been closed continuously for six months and can operate in take-away mode only.
The government is considering the introduction of Food Stamps that could be used to pay in restaurants. This is an idea to support the catering sector, which is particularly hard hit by the Covid-19 pandemic.
Food vouchers would be distributed to employees by the entrepreneur. The state would contribute, for example, half the amount to this initiative. As a result, employees would receive, for example, PLN 200-300, which would be used by ordering take away meals in any restaurant.
Another idea of the government is to reduced VAT for the catering sector. Recent data on the number of new infections in the country suggest that a quick frostbite in this sector of the economy should not be expected.
