Google and Poland Strengthen AI Cooperation with Landmark Agreement

Google has signed a memorandum of understanding with Poland to accelerate the adoption of artificial intelligence (AI), CEO Sundar Pichai announced on Thursday. The agreement aims to drive economic growth and transform key sectors such as cybersecurity, healthcare, and energy.

“The development of digitalization and technology, particularly artificial intelligence, is critical for economic growth. For this reason, the Polish Development Fund has signed a memorandum of cooperation with Google to implement AI solutions in Polish institutions and businesses,” Pichai stated at a press conference.

Google’s Commitment to Poland’s Digital Future

Prime Minister Donald Tusk met with Pichai at the Google for Startups Campus in Warsaw’s Praga Koneser Center. The agreement marks a significant milestone in Google’s 20-year history of investment in Poland, with the company committing billion-dollar investments that are expected to contribute to an 8% increase in Poland’s GDP.

Google has supported Polish entrepreneurs for the past decade, providing resources and innovative tools to promote economic development. This initiative builds on previous collaborations, including a 2014 meeting between then-Prime Minister Tusk and Google executives that led to the establishment of the Google for Startups space in Warsaw.

“When I invited Google to collaborate with Poland 11 years ago, I never imagined that our partnership would reach such an impressive conclusion,” Tusk remarked.

Supporting Polish Entrepreneurs and Startups

Over the years, Google has played a crucial role in fostering Polish entrepreneurship, offering AI-driven solutions and funding opportunities. According to Pichai, Google has helped thousands of businesses grow, with over 100,000 Polish enterprises benefiting from its support.

“Startups are key players in innovation, particularly in cybersecurity, healthcare, and education,” Pichai noted. “Poland is already a leader in European innovation, with the largest engineering hub in the region and over 2,000 Google employees.”

As part of the memorandum, Google will also contribute to a digital skills training initiative aimed at one million Polish citizens. “Google has committed to educational programs that will train young Poles in modern AI tools, significantly enhancing their career opportunities and financial security,” Tusk emphasized.

Economic and Security Benefits of AI Development

Beyond fostering innovation, the agreement is expected to strengthen Poland’s cybersecurity and support the country’s energy transformation. Google estimates that AI-driven economic growth will help establish Poland as a major digital powerhouse in Europe.

“From Google’s perspective, Poland is one of the most attractive places for investment—in both the future and security,” Tusk said. Poland currently ranks among Europe’s largest IT talent hubs, with over 400,000 specialists in the field.

The Polish government has already committed to extensive digitalization efforts, including the Digitalization Strategy for 2025-2035, which aims to allocate 5% of the country’s GDP to technology advancement.

Future Collaborations and Economic Deregulation

During the visit, Tusk and Pichai also engaged with Polish startup founders and representatives, discussing deregulation initiatives as part of the “Poland: A Year of Breakthrough” economic plan. The initiative aims to ease business regulations and support local entrepreneurs.

“We heard from our young startup leaders that they are eager to contribute to deregulation. Google can also be part of this ambitious project, helping to simplify economic and administrative processes at both the national and European levels,” Tusk added.

On Friday, the Prime Minister is set to meet with representatives from academia and business to further discuss economic reforms and AI-driven advancements in Poland. The collaboration with Google is poised to shape the country’s digital future, reinforcing its position as a leader in technological innovation in Europe.
