Ms. Minakshi Sharma, Founder of American School of Wroclaw (ASW), received the most prestigious Dr. Sarojini Naidu International Award for Working Women presented by the Asian Academy of Arts, India. The award honors Indian writer, poet, and political activist Dr. Sarojini Naidu (1879-1949), the first Indian woman to preside over the Indian National Congress and India’s first female state governor.

The Dr. Sarojini Naidu International Award for Working Women was constituted in the year 2017. This award is for women who are role models and who have created a niche for themselves and have been an inspiration for others. “The selection committee decides the awardee on their extraordinary contribution in their respective field and towards the society. About 7,000 applications were received for the award of which the selection committee decided upon honoring 200 women from various fields” as said by Ms. Haripriya Director, Events Marwah Studios, India. 

Minakshi Sharma, Founder of ASW, has achieved great heights in the field of education. With sheer perseverance and heightened passion, she has done everything to reach the position where she is today. Holding a Master’s degree in Business Management and Bachelor’s in Education and Commerce, she started her career in 1993 as a kindergarten and Economics teacher. Alongside her job, she has also mastered Yoga and Indian folk dance.

Minakshi, started her school (ASW) in the year 2011. This school already runs two campuses for lower and upper primary and now they have one more investment in Bielany, Wroclaw where they will cater Kindergarten, Primary, Middle school and High school with 6800sqm built-up area, swimming pool, gym, and 98 car park spaces. Expected to open this location in September 2022. 

“The journey from 2011 until 2021 has given me different experiences and every year I try to implement the changes to make the school a better place where everyone feels like a second home. There are about 100 international schools all over Poland, and ASW is the only school to introduce a “Scholarship program” for Indian students,” says Minakshi with pride. 

It is because of the commendable work that she is the first Indian woman in Poland to receive Dr. Sarojini Naidu International Award. Ms. Minakshi is truly an inspiration for younger minds as she has accomplished great heights with passion.
