An Air India airplane flying to bring back Indians from Ukraine turned around for Delhi after Ukraine said it has closed its airspace in the midst of Russian military tasks in its eastern breakaway regions. A huge number of Indians are standing by to fly back home from Ukraine in the midst of contention with Russia.

Russian President Vladimir Putin this morning allowed Russian special forces to operate in two separatist areas in Ukraine, which Russia on Monday recognized as independent nations.

The Air India flight chose to turn around to Delhi after a NOTAM, or Notice to Air mission was sent to flights heading to Ukraine. The government authority said substitute evacuation routes are being activated. Air India, as of late obtained by Tata groups, has flown several “Vande Bharat” missions to localize Indians when the COVID-19 lockdown was in full impact. Similar aircraft has made a couple of full circle trips to Ukraine to bring back Indians over the most recent times.
