The bus is completely submerged in the canal, we have stopped water from the Bansagar dam. The exact number of people travelling on the bus will only be clear once it is fished out of the water. Cranes are being used to take out the bus. Rescue operations are underway, but many more are feared drowned in Sharda Canal , about 560 km from state capital Bhopal. About 60 passengers were on board the bus at the time of the accident.

While 32 bodies have been recovered so far, several passengers were rescued. Chief Minister Shivraj Singh has announced a compensation of 5 lakh{ half million] for the kin of the dead.

The bus fell into the Sharda Canal at around 7.30 am, after its driver lost control of the vehicle. The bus was heading towards Satna District from Sidhi district in Madhya Pradesh.
