In a heartwarming display of resilience and purpose, Nisha Kumari and her coach Nilesh Barot are cycling across Europe to raise awareness about climate change as part of the “Change Before Climate Change” initiative. This extraordinary journey from Warsaw to Wroclaw in Poland, will traverse through major European cities, including Prague, Stuttgart, and Paris, before concluding in the United Kingdom.
A Day in Warsaw: Bridging Communities and Nature
The team’s visit to Warsaw showcased their commitment to environmental conservation and community engagement.
Morning Diplomacy:
The day started with a meaningful meeting at the Indian Embassy, where Second Secretary Satyasheel Lall commended the team for their dedication and discussed the logistics and impact of their journey.
Lunch with Supporters:
Over lunch, the cyclists shared stories and received encouragement from Pranav Nagar, Sanjog Thakor, and Tirth Desai, who have been key supporters of the mission.
Tree Plantation Event:
In the afternoon, the team visited Jamsaheb Maharaja School in Warsaw, where they planted trees alongside local students and educators. The event underscored the importance of small, actionable steps to combat climate change.
Evening with the Indian Community:
The cyclists were warmly welcomed by members of the Indian community, including Arun Barot and Kunal Choksi who joined them for a delightful dinner. Later, Nisha met Himanshu Bhai, a fellow Vadodara native, to discuss the challenges and aspirations of their shared homeland.
Challenges on the Road
As the team cycled from Warsaw to Wrocław, they faced a formidable snowstorm. With visibility reduced to near zero, riding a bicycle became a test of endurance and determination. Despite these challenges, Nisha and her coach, Nilesh Barot, remain undeterred, exemplifying their commitment to the cause.
